Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Kuala Lumpur was looking to revamp their Presidential Suite, Club Park Suite, Executive Suite and double volume hall according to the art direction of Wilson Associates, internationally-acclaimed hotel interior designers. As they are an international hotel, there were a few requirements that needed to be met for their curtains. Namely, all blackout curtains have to be made with hotel-grade materials that are fire-retardant, in accordance to US safety standards for hotels. Impressed with Curtain Library by Crystalace’s ability in producing top-notch products with one of the best in craftsmanship in the industry, Mandarin Oriental Hotels engaged with us to provide them with the curtains they needed. 

For this project, we supplied 100% blackout curtains with silicone finishing. Curtain Library’s 100% blackout curtains come with the latest technology for four-layered blackout fabric made up of cotton and polyester with silicone finishings, which is known to be more durable. Our curtains’ blackout materials lend the fabric its desired properties of UV protection, sound and heat absorption, water repellant and washable, making it easier to maintain. The versatile material was used for their Presidential and Executive Suites, as well as their double volume hall. 

Through working with this material, we were able to explore how the length of a curtain can create a sense of grandeur, such as the ones made for the double volume hall, or make a room feel cosy, such as the ones made for the suites. In addition to the curtain’s height, our double pleat headers also allowed the curtains to fall in to neat and full waves that hover just above the floor- all measured to a perfect touch.
